282/365 Test of trivia

I love this version of Trivial Pursuit. It's the Millennium Edition, and because of that, my age doesn't place me at as much of a disadvantage as when I play the original classic version. In the original master set, all of the popular culture events, scientific facts, and sports milestones happened prior to about 1982.

If you hadn't yet become a human being at that point in time, (and assuming you're not a quiz bowl master) it makes answering those questions a little more difficult.

I recently gave the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? game a try and felt it paled in comparison to Trivial Pursuit. Nevertheless, I love trying new board games.

It's always hard to beat a classic.

151/365 New kids on the block

I have a great job.

It's great on a regular day, but on Thursday afternoon, we had a pitch-in party celebrating and welcoming all new employees who'd joined in the last year, complete with outdoor games and a session of on-the-spot questioning.

I was considered one of the "newbies" since I've been with the company since the beginning of this year.

What happens when you mix an art director with a cornhole board? A perfectly painted board immediately recognizable as an ear of corn:

Outdoor games, in my book, wouldn't be complete without a rousing game of badminton. I've heard rumors that this net gets set up on a regular basis, but I haven't seen it quite yet.

I'd say this was a great way to officially welcome all of us to the company! Why don't we do this every week?

82/365 Summer Nights

I love nothing more than spending quality time with friends and family. The Summer Nights series at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, in my opinion, is one of the best summer activities in the city.

On Friday nights in the summer, the IMA shows a movie in its outdoor amphitheater. The selection of movies is completely eclectic -- you'll find everything from The Goonies to Field of Dreams, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Roman Holiday.

Tickets go on sale at 6:00 p.m., and each time I've been, the 600 available tickets have sold out within two hours.

I went with two different groups of friends on Friday night. My favorite part is the picnicking and visiting before the film starts. You bring food to share, games to play, and just enjoy being together for a few hours outside.

We played a few rousing games of Uno this time, so your photo selection for the day is a series of action shots.

Shuffling the deck:

Reversing the direction of play:

Taking a turn:
The movie was Roman Holiday, an old black and white Audrey Hepburn film. I had never seen one of her films, so that alone was a treat. I liked it!

I can't wait to go back again.

349/365 Solitaire

What is it about playing solitaire on the computer that is so very addicting? Once you start, you have to play until you win, because otherwise you feel incomplete. Or so I've been told.

One aspect that I enjoy about playing electronically instead of by hand is the ease with which I can move stacks of cards. It's so much neater when you can just click, drag, and release.

That doesn't explain the addictive nature of the game, but it's definitely an enjoyable part.
